Holyoke Reach Out and Read Inc

Holyoke Reach Out and Read was founded in 1998.  Each year we distribute over 5,000 books to 3,000 children in Holyoke and surrounding communities, along with early literacy advice for their parents.  Books are given at 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18-month checkups, as well as 2, 3, 4, and 5-year checkups.  Children are able to build a home library, and families are encouraged to read aloud.  Research has shown many early literacy skills are developed before the age of five.  Medical providers have the unique opportunity to reach many children with this literacy intervention at their pediatric visits.  Although part of a national organization, each location must raise their own funds to sustain their program.  Entering our 17th year of success, we want to continue this important work.  We need your support!
