Holy Family School Adds Entrepreneur Curriculum

Holy Family School, Albany, MN is working to add Entrepreneurship curriculum for their students in K-5. The annual curriculum will include all aspects of running a business including product conception and design, market research, production, marketing, sales, inventory, accounting, etc. The culminating activity following the instructional component will be to create a student-run business. The plan for the first year will be to operate a greeting card company, which will sell products made by the students. Our long-range plan from year to year would be for students to take on new roles within the business as they progress from grade to grade and possibly adding additional products. The future for our students career choices will be found in their ability to use the knowledge and skills learned in their core curriculum of math, science, language arts, art and social studies in real-life situations. What better real-world activities than running their own business! Students will also be able to obtain a deeper understanding of the Catholic Social teachings and to relate them to the world of business. The world of tomorrow needs young people with strong moral beliefs and the ability to think creatively.
