Herbivorous Acres

It's Give to the Max day 2025! Herbivorous Acres is a 501c3 nonprofit farm sanctuary that prevents cruelty, abuse, and neglect to farmed animals. We provide a safe place for animals to live out their lives with well-deserved peace and dignity.  Herbivorous Acres strives to make a lasting and compassionate impression on the lives of farmed animals through rescue, rehabilitation, and education. We work tirelessly to show people that farmed animals have personalities and the will to live just like our pets. 

Herbivorous Acres has called Scandia home since 2018. Give To The Max day benefits the lives of our rescued residents and helps us continue this mission. One of our main pillars is to show others that by embracing a plant-based diet, we can make a positive impact in the lives of farmed animals, the environment and our health.

This year's fundraising goal goes towards rebuilding our medical fund. 2025 has been burdened with an incredible amount of grief and loss. We had to say goodbye to 6 members of our rescue family despite the magnitude of effort and vet care provided. This has brought on the highest amount of vet bills since we incorporated in 2016. Vet costs, feed, supplies and utilities have also increased and we have had to pull back on new rescues in order to maintain sustainability. We live up to the promise made to each of our rescued residents to provide the best possible vet care we can. We need your help to rebuild our medical fund and ensure that our mission can continue. These vital giving days also help cover the day-to-day costs. Our current and future rescues depend on your support and compassion. 

Winter is also on our heels so we have many upcoming expenses to keep the animals safe in the colder weather. This means water heaters, more bedding, feed and keeping shelters warm. Your support ensures that each of our animals lives the healthy and happy life that they deserve. We need your help to raise the funds to continue this life-saving work. $10 covers the cost of a bag of shavings for bedding

$20 covers the cost of 1 bag of grain

$50 covers the cost of a new water heater for the animals

$75 covers the cost of the bi-annual vaccines for one resident

$100 covers the cost of a farm visit from our vet

$150 covers the cost of one 1,000 lb bale of hay

$300 covers one month of animal feed for all our residents

$500 covers the initial cost of an emergency vet visit to the U of M 

$3,000 helps recuperate the average amount of each hospital visit from this year 

$7,500 replenishes the medical care fund to continue to provide the best vet care possible. 

Our pets that we love at home are no different from the farm animals we rescue. They have unique personalities and create strong bonds with their family members.
