Herbivorous Acres

It's Give to the Max day 2023! Herbivorous Acres is a 501c3 nonprofit farm sanctuary that prevents cruelty, abuse, and neglect to farmed animals. We provide a safe place for animals to live out their lives with well-deserved peace and dignity.  Herbivorous Acres strives to make a lasting and compassionate impression on the lives of farmed animals through rescue, rehabilitation, and education. We work tirelessly to show people that farmed animals have personalities and the will to live, just like our pets. 

Herbivorous Acres is currently leasing a property located in Scandia, MN and have been able to rescue more farm animals since we started expanding on this property. We currently provide a permanent home to 3 goats, 4 ducks, Dennis the rooster and his ladies, Seitan and Tempeh, our rescue cow Hot Wheels, and our two pigs Zeus and Hoggle. 

We recently hosted our second annual Fall Farm Festival! It was a highlight watching our community engaging with our animal family and experience how much our rescues have to offer as someone, not something. Herbivorous Acres Farm Sanctuary not only benefits the lives of farmed animals, but also shows the community that by embracing a plant-based diet, we can improve our health, help the environment, and save the animals. 

This year's fundraising goal aims to cover upcoming and previous costs of the sanctuary. We had some very heavy losses this year when 2 of the 3 calves we rescued passed away this summer. We always provide the best possible vet care to our rescues that we can, and that will never change, regardless of the outcome. We need your help to rebuild our medical fund given we nearly exhausted it when trying to save them. Our current and future rescues depend on the same level of care. 

Winter is also on our heels so we have many expenses to keep the animals safe in this colder weather. We have had to officially turn on the water heaters, as well as start providing more bedding and warming shelters! Your support ensures that each of our animals lives the healthy and happy life that they deserve. $10 covers the cost of a bag of shavings for bedding

$25 covers the cost of 1 bag of grain

$50 covers the cost of a new water heater for the animals

$75 covers the cost of the bi-annual vaccines for one resident

$100 covers the cost of a farm visit from our vet

$125 covers the cost of one 1,000 lb bale of hay

$350 covers one month of animal feed for all our residents

$500 covers a winter hay feeder for Hot Wheels and the goats 

$2500 replenishes the medical care fund to continue to provide the best vet care possible
