Two Rivers Band and Marching Arts Association

The Two River Band prides itself on being a program of equal access for all.  

We need your help to provide that access.

Our goal is to continue to raise enough money to help EACH and EVERY ONE of our students pay for private music lessons with professional musicians -- including the students whose families could typically not afford to pay for private lessons; appropriately called the Equity Program .

Our approach -- to offer private music lessons to every student -- is unique and important.  

These private lessons, which take place at school during the school day, helps the students become more confident in the music program. Research shows that there are many benefits to music education. Our band program is not just a class or an activity, it is a community where the kids can grow and learn.

The band is seeing great success because of the Equity Program.  Below are some of the program's direct accomplishments.

• The Wind Ensemble, the top band at Sibley, is one of 3 bands in the state of MN selected to perform at the Minnesota Music Educator's Association (MMEA) Conference in February 2020. This is the largest accomplishment in the band's recent history.
• The Marching Band is the 2018 and 2019 Parade Marching Band State Champions and they achieved an undefeated season in 2019. 
• In 2018, the Marching Band had the honor of representing the state of Minnesota in Washington DC at the National Independence Day parade.  

At our school, 40 percent of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch. While our scholarship program serves students on free and reduced lunch, it also is there to help families who need some financial support to pay for music lessons for their students.

Here is what one student wrote about the gift of private lessons:

"Thank you so much for giving me this scholarship. It is such an honor and I am so grateful.  I will make sure to try my best at the lessons. I know the lesson teachers are amazing and again I am so grateful. I know the four years that I will be in band will change and shape my life for the better. Thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity."

What does it cost to provide private music lessons?

Suggested gift ideas; sponsor one or more of the following:

• One music lesson for a student: $25
• One month of music lessons: $50
• One school quarter of music lessons: $112.50
• One semester of music lessons: $225
• One school year of music lessons: $450

We are proud of our concert bands, jazz bands, jazz combo, winter drumline, winter guard, pep band, and State Champion Parade Marching Band (2018, 2019). 

We are grateful for invested students, parents, community and staff. Thousands of volunteer hours are invested in from students,  parents, and friends of the program.
