Help Us Prepare for the Hats & Mittens Season!   

Did you know that 21,745 hats and mittens sets were requested for the 2022/2023 winter season?  The need for winter wear in our Twin Cities community continues to be strong... This year, we’ve already received requests for over 23,000 hat and mittens sets from 180 organizations and the winter season hasn't even hit Minnesota yet!

Please help us raise the money to purchase the inventory needed to keep our infants, youth, young adults and adults warm for this season. Did you know that a $25 donation today will help us purchase 12 warm hat and mitten sets? Our goal this season is to be able to provide 
hats and mittens in a more timely manner

Our organization relies on both financial and physical donations to create our inventory to distribute hat and mitten sets across the Twin Cities and seven metro counties. However, the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically impacted our collections network. Hats & Mittens has fewer collection sites and receives fewer physical donations than previous years.  In order to keep up with the demand, we purchase  hats and mittens at wholesale prices.  

That's why we need your help. We need the funding to continue to purchase inventory before our unpredictable Minnesota fall and winter season kicks into high gear. We do know the need will be great – we’ve already received over 180 orders, for over 23,000 sets, and more come in every day! Help us spread the warmth to those who need it most!

Hats & Mittens is a 28-year-old nonprofit founded for the purpose of keeping kids and families warm for the winter season by providing free hats and mittens. The all-volunteer board and committees work throughout the year collecting and distributing new and gently used hats and mittens to organizations, schools, and shelters throughout the Twin Cities and seven metro counties. Through our manufacturing connections, we can secure warm hats and mittens at or below wholesale prices.
