Zaheeda found herself homeless after leaving an abusive marriage. Luckily, she was welcomed into a domestic violence shelter, where she was referred to Guild. Guild walked alongside Zaheeda to help her stabilize her mental health, secure stable housing, and find lasting employment.
Zaheeda was referred to Guildto secure stable housing. However, after meeting with Guild staff and speaking about her daily life, it became clear that housing was not the only aspect of her life that she was struggling with. Zaheeda confided in Vicki, her Guild Case Manager, that she was struggling with anxiety, depression, and leaving her home.
When Zaheeda filed for divorce from her abusive husband, she found herself homeless. Luckily, an Eagan women's shelter was able to temporarily house her. The shelter staff, knowing she would need long-term housing, quickly referred her to Guild. After connecting with Guild, Guild staff assisted Zaheeda in finding a stable apartment where she could be safe and comfortable. Housing allowed Zaheeda to move forward and address other aspects of her health.
After Guild helped Zaheeda find safe housing, it became clear that she was also struggling with her mental health. She confided in Vicki, her Case Manager, that her "anxiety and depression were so debilitating that it was really hard to do any daily care [...] or get out of her apartment." Vicki connected Zaheeda with a psychiatrist and therapist that assisted her in finding the proper medication to start feeling better. Zaheeda admits that it was hard but she "pushed herself" because she "wants to see the light."
Once Zaheeda stabilized her mental health, Guild knew it was time to help her find meaningful employment. Dana, a Guild Employment Specialist, met with Zaheeda to learn about her interests and career goals. After discovering she enjoyed cleaning, Dana connected Zaheeda to potential career opportunities. Now, Zaheeda works at a grocery store as a custodian where she "always gets feedback that she is doing a great job at work."
