The GG STEM Foundation nonprofit was created by the members of FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics team 7190 the Green Girls. We founded the Green Girls, an all-girls team, in 2009. Our mission was to create an environment where girls could explore their passions free from gender stereotypes. As we grew up through the FIRST Robotics programs, we wanted to support the passions of other underrepresented groups in STEM so we founded The GG STEM Foundation. Since all of our members have graduated we have continued our legacy of diversity and inclusion by continuing to raise money for scholarships and creating educational material for STEM students from underrepresented groups.

In 2024, we will be awarding two $1000 scholarships to students that identify as female and/or come from an underrepresented background in STEM that have promoted diversity in STEM in their community.

The GG STEM Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes, specifically to support and increase the number of underrepresented groups such as women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ Community, in STEM. In order to support this mission, we have fundraised thousands of dollars to offer scholarships to these groups who will pursue STEM majors in college. Since 2018 we have awarded over $14,000 in scholarships and grants.
