Now is the Moment to Fight for Our Rights

Every day, we receive calls from women, men, and LGB and transgender people who have no access to justice, except through Gender Justice. With you by our side, we can continue to answer those calls.

Gender Justice envisions a world where everyone can thrive regardless of their gender, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

Step by step, we’re creating that world by dismantling legal, structural, and cultural barriers that contribute to gender inequity. We work to ensure that people of all genders have a meaningful right to bodily autonomy, safety, health, and opportunity.

Our current litigation includes fighting for transgender rights in sports, against pharmacist refusals for emergency contraception, and for the dignity of transgender people in government custody.

Your generosity allows us to hold people and institutions accountable — and work for human, civil, and constitutional rights for everyone.

Thank You for your support.

A HUGE Victory for Abortion Rights!

In July, a Minnesota judge ruled in our case - Doe v MN - that most of Minnesota's abortion restrictions are unconstitutional and permanently blocked their enforcement!

Specifically, the judge blocked:

  1. A ban on qualified advance-practice clinicians providing abortion care;
  2. A requirement forcing patients to delay their abortion care by at least 24 hours after consulting with a healthcare provider;
  3. A requirement that young people notify both parents before they can receive abortion care;
  4. A requirement forcing abortion providers to give irrelevant and misleading information to their patients;
  5. Ban on the provision of  second-trimester abortion care outside of hospitals; and
  6. Regulations that subject abortion providers to felony criminal penalties for minor regulatory infractions.

The court held that the Minnesota Constitution protects not just a fundamental right to choose abortion, but also a fundamental right to access abortion care.

The Honorable Thomas A Gilligan said: “The right to choose to have an abortion . . . would be meaningless without the right to access abortion care.”

This is a HUGE win, and we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for donating to and supporting Gender Justice and this lawsuit in all the ways that you have.

Thanks to supporters like you, we filed this case three and a half years ago alongside The Lawyering Project on behalf of Our Justice and two health care providers. Even then, we knew that the fight to protect abortion would rest in the states.

There is still a lot of work ahead of us to ensure that anyone seeking abortion care can access it. But this is a big step forward. Thank you!
