22 reasons to support WFNU-LP Frogtown Radio in 2022!

WFNU-LP was created by the community, for the community. While our focus is on the Frogtown neighborhood of Saint Paul, our reach goes well beyond Frogtown’s borders through broadcast, online and media partnerships. Here are 22 reasons to support Frogtown Radio this year!

  1. WFNU-LP Frogtown Radio, operated by Frogtown Tuned-In a 501c3 non-profit organization, amplifies diverse voices of Frogtown and surrounding communities. Our commitment is to provide a positive, healing, safe and empowering platform to allow all community voices to be heard.
  2. We have a goal to raise $22,000 to support our mission to encourage, educate, provide arts access, train community members in broadcast skills, and encourage citizen journalism that shines a true, holistic and realistic sense of community.
  3. Frogtown Radio is starting a new scholarship fund! This scholarship fund supports high school seniors and current college students who are going into journalism or broadcast production. Click here to donate to the scholarship fund!
  4. Frogtown Radio is 100% volunteer run. From the station managers to the radio show hosts, 60 volunteers give their time to keep the station running 24/7 365 days a year.
  5. Our volunteers include an amazing Board of Directors who are committed to seeing the Frogtown community thrive.
  6. Frogtown Radio is community radio. The station serves a community of 17,000 residents who speak seven languages. Our programs go beyond that geography to people who stream through our website or download the app.
  7. Frogtown Radio believes in elevating the voices of community and we do this through media partnerships with KRSM, Listen Up Youth Media, Blck Press and more. We couldn’t do our work without them and we encourage folks to learn more about our valued media partners.
  8. Frogtown Radio also has strong community partners. We work with Minnesota Humanities Center, Ramsey County, Saint Paul Neighborhood Network and many more organizations to make sure important information is reaching our community.
  9. Frogtown Tuned-In/Frogtown Radio was featured on Kare 11! Watch the video here.
  10. November 8 was voting day! Frogtown Radio provided opportunities for the community to hear from local candidates and hear perspectives on local issues.
  11. Frogtown Radio is an important source for community information ranging from updates on COVID-19 and community health initiatives to community meetings and forums.
  12. We have fun! We enjoy good music and conversation. There is programming for many areas of interest: sports, jazz, etc
  13. The station’s biggest expense is technology including computers, software, microphones and maintenance for our FM transmitter. Your support ensures we stay up to date on technology and on the air!
  14. If you are looking for fun and informative community events, Frogtown Radio has a community event calendar full of music, arts and other community events.
  15. Frogtown Radio program hosts and media partners produce a variety of on-demand podcasts. From dance music to important social justice conversations, these podcasts will inform and broaden perspectives.
  16. We know the holidays and end of year can be a stressful time and we’ve got your back. Whether it is jazzy tunes or local music, you can depend on Frogtown Radio to bring good vibes during stressful times.
  17. Frogtown Radio is here for you today and everyday. We know there are a lot of demands for your hard-earned dollars, especially these days. If you can’t support Frogtown Radio with a year-end gift, please consider a donation anytime of the year when it is possible for you to do so.
  18. Last year, the City of Saint Paul and Mayor Melvin Carter recognized the work of WFNU Frogtown Radio and declared November 15, 2021, WFNU Frogtown Community Radio Day!
  19. On October 28 we hosted our first collaborative fundraising event with KRSM! Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters who joined us for this fun Halloween event. We raised over $3,000 and proceeds were split 50/50 with KRSM.
  20. We hosted our second annual fundraising event on November 14. Thank you to all who braved our first snow of the season to celebrate and support our collective work. Donations from our October and November events helped us get halfway to our goal!
  21. Give to the Max Day (GTMD) was November 17. Thank you to all who added Frogtown Radio to your GTMD donation!
  22. We value our community, our volunteers and our donors. There are many ways to support Frogtown Radio in 2022 including our main giving page, our scholarship page, and underwriting. As we head into 2023, please keep us in mind as you plan for charitable donations.
