Frogtown Farm

Help Frogtown Farm grow our impact during Give to the Max Day 2020 — every dollar counts!

Frogtown Farm is an organic urban demonstration farm in the heart of the Frogtown neighborhood of Saint Paul, a community with less green space per child than any other Saint Paul neighborhood. The farm and adjoining park are the culmination of almost a decade's effort and advocacy by a group of passionate neighborhood residents.

In light of COVID-19 Frogtown Farm had to change course in the 2020 growing season.   To ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and community members, Frogtown Farm scaled back our planting area and focused on repairing the farm's infrastructure and land restoration.   In 2020 we grew and distributed 1600 pounds of produce.  

 Frogtown Farm needs to replace our tractor so that we have an essential and reliable tool for our 2021 growing season.  We are also implementing additional permaculture practices to sequester carbon & further increase our yields yet require less labor & water resources.  

Our 2020 growing season has taught us how to farm & distribute food while maintaining COVID protocols.  Further Frogtown Farm continues to work with the local community to explore initiatives that help mitigate chronic food insecurity affecting the neighborhood, including: 

• pop-up produce distribution with other local farmers
• establishing a “Fare for All” neighborhood site

Ultimately Frogtown Farm seeks to empower all our community members by giving them tools to thrive. We are looking forward to deepening our impact as we work to build a vibrant community with an equitable and just food system.
