Minnesota Photographic Artist Initiative - Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography

The Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography (FEP) was founded in 2003 as a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a satellite office in Paris, France. Since 2010, we have also operated out of an office in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Over the last ten years, FEP has presented exhibitions in over one hundred museums in more than thirty-three countries. Conservatively, we estimate that over three million visitors have seen FEP's exhibitions, while nearly 200,000 exhibition catalogues have been sold.

To achieve its mission, FEP creates traveling photography exhibitions accompanied by high-quality companion resource books.. Our 'menu' currently offers eight different exhibitions, including the highly regarded trio of Edward Steichen exhibitions: "Lives in Photography"; "In High Fashion"; and "Star Power", which have been shown at more than 20 museums to date. "Coming into Fashion," "Arnold Newman: Masterclass," and "Lorna Simpson" are three other major shows presently in circulation.

FEP is very active in its home base of Minneapolis. The Minnesota Photographic Artist Initiative is a program offered by FEP. This program is dedicated to exhibiting and supporting photographic artists who live and work in the state of Minnesota. The goal of the program is to develop exhibitions, publications and educational programs featuring the work of talented Minnesota photographers. FEP will present selected exhibitions in Minnesota, the Midwest Region and elsewhere in North America

FEP is uniquely positioned to bring attention to Minnesota artists due to our success on the national and international stage. Artists who participate benefit from FEP’s excellent reputation for developing and managing first-rate photography exhibitions in North and South America, Europe, and Asia – indeed, across the globe. Exhibiting artists also benefit from access to FEP’s professional support services including curatorial expertise, exhibition planning, publication design, and installation at each venue. FEP is also currently developing projects with noted Minnesota photographers Stuart Klipper, Tom Arndt, Dona Schwartz and Xavier Tavera.

Meanwhile, our shows have been reviewed by distinguished newspapers and magazines such as Le Monde, The New York Times, the London Sunday Times, the Observer, the Globe & Mail, the International Herald Tribune, the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, Newsweek and the Scotsman.
