Though the Sax-Zim Bog is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA) this does not guarantee its protection.
Since 2011, Friends of Sax-Zim Bog, through generous support from our Bog Buddies, has worked to protect boreal habitat in the Sax-Zim Bog . We rely on your gifts through memberships, donations, program revenue at educational events, and volunteering, to continue with our mission. Your funds provide us with:
Share your love of BIRDS, BOGS, and BIODIVERSITY by giving your gift today!

Your gifts have made it possible to continue important research projects in the bog, including tracking migrations of kestrels, northern hawk owls, and northern shrike.
With your help we have connected corridors of protected land in key areas with two exciting purchases over the last years bringing protected areas to nearly 4000 acres! Your gift enables these projects to continue. Will you join us? Gifts in any amount support these conservation efforts and any gift of $1,000 or more entitles you to your name or a memorial name on an acre of Bog. Leave your legacy in land for generations to come!
Our focus this year is accessibility with multiple projects giving you more ways to safely explore the Bog. These projects include a new boardwalk at the Welcome Center, upgraded trails, and parking areas. With the completion of the Lois King Education Center we are able to offer more educational opportunities, a place to warm up and visit, and more ways for you to connect with the Bog community. Watch for new programming this year! (Register at saxzim.org).
Much is happening in the Bog and we are so pleased you can join us in protecting this unique habitat!
