Friends of Sax-Zim Bog

A nonprofit organization

Though the Sax-Zim Bog is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA) this does not guarantee its protection.

Since 2011, Friends of Sax-Zim Bog, through generous support from our Bog Buddies, has worked to protect boreal habitat in the Sax-Zim Bog . We rely on your gifts through memberships, donations, program revenue at educational events, and volunteering, to continue with our mission.   Your funds provide us with:

  • Continued revenue to maintain our staff and programming
  • Funding for education and research
  • Support for upcoming land purchases to protect habitat

Share your love of BIRDS, BOGS, and BIODIVERSITY by giving your gift today!

Check out our news feed - on Facebook, Instagram, or our website saxzim.org.

The winter season will be upon us soon and so will the return of our arctic migrants! Your gifts have made it possible to continue important research projects in the bog, including tracking migrations of kestrels, northern hawk owls, and northern shrike.

With your help we have connected corridors of protected land in key areas with two exciting purchases over the last year bringing protected areas to nearly 4000 acres! Giving to our Acres for Owls/Corridors Land Fund enables these projects to continue. Will you join us? Gifts in any amount support these conservation efforts and any gift of $1,000 or more entitles you to your name or a memorial name on an acre of Bog. Leave your legacy in land for generations to come!

This winter we are particularly excited to invite you to visit our expanded Welcome Center. With the completion of the Lois King Education Center we will be able to offer more educational opportunities, a place to warm up and visit, and more ways to connect with the Bog. Watch for new programming this winter!  (Register at saxzim.org).

Much is happening in the Bog and we are so pleased you can join us in protecting this unique habitat!
