Research has shown that stable, safe housing is an important foundation for the social and economic success of families and children. But across Minnesota, many families are facing housing instability, spending too much of their income on housing, living in substandard conditions, or locked out of quality housing opportunities.
At the Family Housing fund, we believe every family deserves a place to call home. Since our founding in 1980, we have worked across sectors to achieve systems-level changes that make housing more affordable and accessible for families and communities. Our mission is to transform the housing system to be equitable, collaborative, and resilient so that all Minnesotans have access to quality, stable, affordable housing of their choice.
Across projects and partnerships, we identify, fund, test, and embed new ideas, innovations, and solutions. We work in an iterative, collaborative process to:
In doing so, we build bridges between community partners and the public sector, delivering proven housing solutions that are backed by data, supported by community stakeholders, and ready for broader adoption. This is how we shape housing policy, practices, and systems.
We work across the entire housing continuum, from rental housing affordability and access to equitable homeownership and wealth building opportunities. We step in to fill the gaps in housing system, moving swiftly to address critical needs as they arise and absorbing the risks associated testing an innovation - all the while leading with curiosity, collaboration, and accountability.
Together, we can build a stronger housing system. We can ensure everyone in Minnesota has a home.
