Fairmont Community Hospital Foundation became its own organization when Mayo Clinic Health Systems gained ownership of the Fairmont Hospital in 2001.
The board chose to separate as to ensure that all the money that was brought in through the community, would stay in the community, at the local hospital.
And today, that still holds true. All monetary donations that are given to FCH Foundation are held in support of MCHS-Fairmont. Whether the money is designated towards a specific item or if it comes in undesignated as a general donation, all the money stays in Fairmont to support the Fairmont hospital.
