East Hillside Patch

East Hillside Patch is a grassroots, neighborhood-based community agency in Duluth, MN. We offer free out of school time programs to youth.

As a former program director and now current board member of East Hillside Patch, I have yet to find another small nonprofit with such passion and heart for the work that is being done. Children and families find a home away from home at our Mind 2 Mind youth program during after school and summer hours. Program staff and volunteers serve meals to children after school, help them with homework that challenges them, and provide them with a safe place to grow in body, mind, and emotions. Children find adults who care about them at Mind 2 Mind-- a new experience for many of the children who live in a state of transition and stress most days of their young lives. Each day brings new joys and challenges to the adults and children in Mind 2 Mind, and the goal for everyone is to meet these experiences with their "best selves".
