East Central MN Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, faith based housing ministry dedicated to providing safe, energy efficient, affordable housing to those in need in Pine, Isanti, Chisago, Kanabec and Mille Lacs counties.

Now is your chance to make a difference. Your support will make a real impact on the lives of your neighbors!

Home ownership grows a stronger community!

We believe a stable, affordable home is the foundation for a better life. In Central Minnesota, we empower families to build that foundation for themselves. Our unique partnership model offers prospective homeowners an opportunity to qualify for safe, affordable housing. In exchange for 200 hours of sweat equity, we provide the resources and support for them to build their future. When they purchase their home with an affordable mortgage, their payments are reinvested into our community to help even more families achieve housing stability. This cycle of investment transforms individual lives and strengthens the entire region.

Consider Britini Ann's amazing testimony.

In 2013, at just 15 years old, I was blessed with something I never thought I'd have a place to call home thanks to Habitat for Humanity. After moving through 12 schools and never settling in one place, the idea of having my own room, my own space, and a stable home felt like a dream..

My mom and I were only required to put in 100 hours of sweat equity to help build our home... but we knew this was bigger than us. They made us stop counting after 800+ hours and honestly, we would've done more.

Now, all of these years later, I'm still living in the house that volunteers built. I cry thinking about it sometimes. That house changed my life and it taught me the power of giving back. That's why, through pageantry and beyond, I've made it my mission to pay it forward and stand beside women who want to do the same.

Since our inception in 1993, East Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity has built 46 homes.

Pine County – 13 homes

Isanti County – 8 homes

Kanabec County – 7 homes

Chisago County – 5 homes

Mille Lacs County – 13 homes

We've done repairs for many more homeowners. We offer services for seniors so they can Age in Place. Often this means a ramp being built or increasing the size of doorways for wheelchairs.

How You Can Help Us Further Our Mission!

Volunteer!

There is no better feeling than to give back and make a difference in someone else's life.

Many volunteers enjoy working alongside partner families building their new home. You may do anything from painting walls and trim to pounding nails, roofing or landscaping.

There are also other ways to volunteer your time, talent and skills, like fundraising, general office, etc.

Every hour a volunteer spends with us adds value back into our community. Our volunteers help us save on labor costs to further the mission to help create a Central Minnesota where everyone has a decent place to live at a price they can afford.

And it is scientifically proven that volunteering is good for your physical and mental health.

East Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity is a Good Steward of Your Funds

ECM Habitat for Humanity is committed to being a good steward of your donated funds. 70% of donor funds goes directly into the program.

Our goal this year is to raise $20,000. With your donations last year, we were able to build a home in Sandstone, and repair two homes for seniors so they can Age in Place.

Please consider giving either a one-time donation or a monthly amount. Donations can vary from a minimum of $5 to whatever you feel comfortable giving.

Habitat's History

Koinonia Farm

Millard and Linda Fuller first encountered the "partnership housing" model at Koinonia Farm, Christian community in Georgia, founded by Clarence Jordan. This model involved people in need of housing working alongside volunteer to build simple, decent, affordable homes.

After the Fullers developed the concept of "partnership housing" at Koinonia Farm, they moved to Zaire in 1973 to implement and test the partnership housing concept on a larger scale, which proved successful. After three years in Africa, the Fullers returned to the US in 1976 and gathered supporters to officially form Habitat for Humanity International.

This organization has modeled from the very beginning that everyone is equal in God's sight.

Take Action

Help us meet the organization's goal of $20,000 in order to help create a Central MN where everyone has a decent place to live at a price they can afford. Together we can do more by creating a continuous cycle of building and support.
