Historical Perspective

The history of the EAS dates back beyond its formal inauguration in 1986. Its informal existence dates back to the late fifties and early sixties. The Majority of the founding members were very active in the student organization at the University of Minnesota. However, the scope of involvement changed from the university-sponsored activities to community, social and cultural events such as the Aquatennial and the Festival of Nations. Active Participation in the Festival has continued up to the present time.
