Dolina Polish Folk Dancers is a non-profit performing group dedicated to promoting Polish culture through music, song, and dance.
Dolina was established in 1949 to celebrate Poland's vast and dynamic culture. Over time, the Dolina family has grown from a small group of adults with homemade, generic costumes and a record player to a full-fledged organization with three dance groups, a Kapela to provide live music, and a choir.
Dolina Polish Folk Dancers practice and perform an extensive repertoire, which currently includes 24 different national and regional dance suites ranging from lively, acrobatic mountain dances to elegant, regal city waltzes. Costumes are authentic to each region, and most are purchased in Poland.
Over the past 70 years, Dolina has reached well beyond the confines of the Twin Cities, performing throughout the state of Minnesota, nationally, and internationally. The Dolina Polish Folk Dancers have regularly performed at the Festival of Nations in St. Paul, the Twin Cities Polish Festival in Minneapolis, and Polish Day in Florian, Minnesota. They have traveled across the United States, Canada, and Europe to share their love of Polish song and dance.
The Dolina Polish Folk Dancers have traveled to Poland to participate in the World Festival of Polish Folk Dance (Festiwal Zespołów Polonijnych) eight times, most recently for the Festival's 50th anniversary in 2019. This festival, the largest Polish folk festival in the world, is held every three years and features extensive workshops, the chance to meet Polish folk dancers from around the world, a televised gala performance, and numerous opportunities to travel within Poland to perform for local communities both large and small.
Most of Dolina’s operating expenses are covered through paid performances and specific fundraising efforts. Fundraisers help pay for rehearsal space, storage space, and insurance costs.
By donating to Dolina, you are helping to pay for new costumes or repairs and alterations to existing costume pieces. Your donation may help defray travel costs for members so that we can perform in the greater Midwest, elsewhere in the United States, and abroad. Donations also help pay for technical upgrades, which allow us to record new music, videotape rehearsals and performances, and more effectively manage group operations.
Most importantly, by donating to Dolina, you are helping to further our mission of celebrating the rich traditions of Polish folk dance and song.
