Give to the Max Day 2023

Thank you for making this year's Give to the Max Day the most successful ever!

For Give to the Max Day in 2023, we had a generous family come forward with a last-minute matching grant. For the first time in our history, we had $60,000 in matching dollars available for this incredible giving day. We wondered...would our generous supporters step up to this challenge?

We should have known...no need to wonder. Our Home was built on miracles, this campaign would be no different.

Thanks to all of you, we raised $121,530! This is unprecedented, and you helped make this happen. Thank you truly, from the bottom of our hearts.

As you may know, Crescent Cove is in the midst of change with our founder, Katie Lindenfelser, stepping into a different role after 14 years of championing for children with shortened life expectancies and their families. She will still be with us, working in a different capacity, while a new Executive Director will be hired to lead us into the next phase of growth and service.

We are grateful to the following donors who have made $60,000 in total matching gifts available for this campaign:

Just Cause Charity
Better Together Fund
The Love of Children
The family of Kathy Brooks Stermer
The Anderson Family

The monies raised in this campaign will help us move into 2024 with the resources needed to add more nursing staff so we can care for more children, which means more music therapy, more massage and healing touch sessions, more pet therapy, and more celebrations. Pediatric respite and hospice care are not reimbursed by health insurance and Crescent Cove has limited access to Medicaid dollars for a portion of our families. Because of this, 72% of our revenues in 2022 came from donations from supporters like you. Were it not for the generosity of our community, we would not be able to support families of children with shortened life expectancies, providing respite and end-of-life care.

Crescent Cove is committed to providing care to kids and families at no out-of-pocket cost. Philanthropy and your support make this possible.

Thank you so much for your incredible generous support.

Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a respite home? A home-like environment a child can visit for a handful of days, with skilled nurses and therapists who provide children with round-the-clock care, such as pain and symptom control. Homes uniquely offer play, music, and art therapies to the kids during their stay. Just as valuable to families, these facilities are equipped to offer parents a break, who may also stay in an on-site suite to rest and regroup while their child is being looked after and cared for.

What about end-of-life and hospice care? When it is time, Crescent Cove is an option for families outside the hospital or home environment where the child can spend their last days, and where the family can receive support from skilled and compassionate pediatric palliative care staff and through bereavement. In our Home, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings can enjoy our property on Twin Lake with their loved one, strolling along the shore or the woods surrounding our Home.
