Cowern Parent Teacher Group
Cowern Parent
Teacher Group (PTG) is a fun-driven group focused on doing whatever it
takes to improve our children’s education and experiences at Cowern.
The goal of the Cowern Parent Teacher Group is two-fold: engage the parents and guardians of the Cowern students and fundraise to support technology improvements at the school. Cowern Elementary’s 450+ students represent a diverse cross-section of the community. Not all Cowern students live in the surrounding community, which is a first-ring suburb of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The district enrolls many students from the neighboring St. Paul Public School District, and in turn sees a lot of attrition of students to our neighboring districts. Our teachers and staff have to do more with less: We have students enrolling with higher socioeconomic challenges yet the district lacks the companion fiscal support to ensure those student needs are met. This means the majority of the school’s budget is spent on meeting only the most basic needs of students. That’s where the Cowern Parent Teacher Group steps in: We support the purchase of the technological extras to keep the school competitive and keep the students engaged with – and learning from – technology.
The Cowern PTG works hard to ensure every dollar raised supports ALL students at our school. Instead of selling magazines or wrapping paper where a portion of the proceeds are spent purchasing a thing that clutters up students’ homes, we focus efforts on fundraisers where nearly 100% goes back to the school (after accounting for annual bank fees, insurance, taxes, etc). Your support on Give to the Max Day allows us to continue supporting Cowern students and teachers. Thank you for your support.
