ComMUSICation (CMC) is an intensive youth development music 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to empower urban youth with skills for success through music, service, and community. Inspired by the renowned El Sistema music-for-social-change movement, CMC began in 2013 and currently engages 100+ youth annually through in-school and after-school music ensembles from St. Paul’s historically under-resourced neighborhoods: Rondo, Frogtown, Eastside, and North End.
Our vision of #thenextstage initiative is to cultivate tomorrow’s leaders by creating an accessible space to the Frogtown, Rondo, and North End neighborhoods where Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) youth are prioritized. A space where they have a voice, receive services that fulfill their basic needs, and have a caring environment that nurtures their social and academic development.
The COVID-19 pandemic requires us to make a fundamental change to our program model. We are so grateful for Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities’ support the past five years on which CMC relied heavily as we transitioned from a start-up to growth stage nonprofit. Now, we are ready for the next stage in our development as we grow towards being an autonomous organization that absorbs its full costs and located in a space that is exclusively ours in the afterschool hours.
We need your help to make this leap! Whether that's sharing us on social media, encouraging your friends to support us, or making a financial contribution of any amount yourself, THANK YOU! You're helping make us eligible for CASH prizes!
Thank you! Your generous donation helps us toward creating this new space for many youth for years to come!
