We are a non-profit affordable housing organization that provides a variety of affordable rental housing options and housing rehabilitation programs to low and moderate income households in central Minnesota.

Housing is a basic need that goes so much farther than just having a roof over ones head. Stable housing benefits employers and employees by decreasing missed work time and increasing productivity. Stable housing benefits the performance of children in school by creating a safe and comfortable environment to study and rest. Stable housing can provide a fresh start for someone who is experiencing homelessness. Stable housing can provide a support network for the disabled or those living with a mental health illness. Stable rental housing can help an aging individual transition from homeownership to a living situation that better meets their physical needs, and allows them to age in place.

All of the benefits of affordable, stable housing mentioned above are why we at Central Minnesota Housing Partnership, Inc. are committed to assisting underserved communities to preserve, improve and increase affordable housing for low and moderate-income families and individuals in central Minnesota. The need for affordable housing continues to grow across our region, while a multitude of factors continue to make it more and more difficult for someone to find an affordable place to call home. Our work has never been more important, and because of this we've adapted to the needs of our region by diversifying our development activities to include affordable rental housing for families, individuals, seniors, as well as permanent supportive housing for individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.

These projects highlighted below are just a few examples of how CMHP is meeting the affordable housing needs of low- and moderate-income households in our 16-county service area.

Heritage Court Apartments is a 32-unit property in North Branch, Minnesota, which completed construction in December 2022. The property provides affordable housing and tenant coordinator services to seniors age 55+. Rent limits are set to be affordable for households at or below 50% of area median income, with many units affordable to households at 30% of area median income. The project was made possible through a collaborative effort between Minnesota Housing, the city of North Branch and CMHP.

The Mill Townhomes is a 42-unit townhome property in Staples, Minnesota. The property provides affordable housing to families and individuals. Rent limits are set to be affordable for households at or below 50% of area median income, with many units affordable to households at 30% of area median income. The property features a number of units set aside for households with a disability and households previously experiencing homelessness. The project was a collaborative effort between local and state agencies, funders and CMHP.

In addition to affordable housing development, CMHP also administers the Small Cities Development Program. Cities and counties can apply for this funding to address homeowner, rental and commercial rehabilitation needs in their communities. CMHP provides grant application writing services and full grant administration services. CMHP is typically administering four to six grants across our region to meet the needs of communities and their residents.

CMHP also employs the Central Continuum of Care Coordinator and Coordinated Entry Coordinator/Priority List Manager for the Central Region Continuum of Care. These staff members work with homeless service agencies and housing providers to address homelessness in our region. The main areas of responsibility include preparing and submitting the annual HUD Notice of Funding Opportunity application, which funds a large number of programs and services in central Minnesota, and management of the central Coordinated Entry System and Priority List.

CMHP is able to maintain our activities to better our region through hard work, partnerships, teamwork and contributions from donors wanting to make a difference in people’s lives. Please consider making a donation to CMHP and the work we do, and remember, any donation to CMHP makes a difference!
