Care in Action Minnesota

Care in Action Minnesota (CIAM) works to promote the social, physical, and emotional well-being of children who have experienced abuse and neglect, by providing essential support and education that strengthen families, connect communities and prevent childhood maltreatment.

We fulfill this mission by partnering with State agencies through our Adopt-A-Social Worker program, community organizations and individuals that share our dedication to improving the lives and futures of at-risk children and families in crisis.  

Social workers, working on the "front lines", typically use CIAM as a resource when they need a timely response to help meet needs that no other organization or government program will fund. Through Care in Action Minnesota, over 2,000 children and families have received additional support that lead to:

• Sustainable Livelihoods - Assuring access to basic needs & critical goods for youth & families (i.e. Glasses, Clothing, Dental Care, Diapers, Groceries). 
• Housing Stability - Preventing & ending homelessness for youth & families. (i.e. portion of past-due rent for a single mother who had fallen behind). 
• Strengthened Learning Opportunities (i.e. School supplies; Career Exploration & Life Skills Classes). 
• Childhood Enrichment - Enhancing quality of life and bringing joy (i.e. Holiday Gifts; Arts & Cultural Opportunities; Summer Camps & After school programs).

Care in Action Minnesota also works to educate the community about how to prevent and identify child maltreatment by participating in outreach events, speaking to churches and engaging community groups.
