Your donations help keep tuition fees low, and support scholarships for students who request them.

Retirement is no time to abandon intellectual curiosity! Questions left unanswered during our working years are still there for the asking. Interests that were unattended while we were attending to other things can still be rekindled.

Cannon Valley Elder Collegium (CVEC) offers high quality learning experiences for learners afed 50+, and has done so for nearly 30 years. The joy of lifelong learning is alive in CVEC!

*  Outstanding instructors, engaged participants. Thought-inspiring classes. Attend in-person or online.

*  No campus, no grades, no papers to write, no degrees or certificates given. Your rewards: learning and meeting old and new friends.

*  Courses are offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.

CVEC recruits retired faculty from St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges, and from other colleges and universities. Independent scholars and community experts also teach for CVEC: physicians, attorneys, historians, and more. CVEC believes older people want to learn in structured settings with peers - and to learn in depth for more than just a week or a weekend.

Community is part of CVEC's DNA. Unlike most elder education programs, which are programs of colleges and universities, CVEC is an entirely community-based organization. Classes are held in community settings such as senior residences, churches, and community college classrooms. CVEC students meet old and new friends in class.

CVEC is volunteer-driven and financially sound. Budgets are conservative: instructors and key staff receive modest honorary payments, and CVEC has no facility rent or mortgage expense. Income comes from donations and tuition payments.

From Instructors: "What I like about teaching older students is that they have so much to contribute."

From Participants: "It lights a spark when you get into that classroom again." "This is the senior academy I've always dreamed of!" "CVEC keeps my brain alive!" "Age is not a part of these classes." "It's really exciting to add a new dimension to life, no matter how late you do it."

See you in class!
