The birth of a baby stirs a whirlwind of emotions — excitement, joy, nervousness and uncertainty. At the Women’s Center at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center, we surround families with love and support, providing safe, personalized childbirth that honors their hopes and wishes.

Now, as part of Tomorrow’s Promise: The Campaign for Women and Children — Avera’s system-wide initiative to expand care for newborns, children, women and families — we’ve launched a regional effort at Avera Marshall to reimagine care for moms and infants. This includes upgraded technology, modernized space and expanded caregiver training to give every family the best start.

What We’re Delivering

Gifts to the project will support the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, caregiver training and program enhancements to meet every patient’s unique needs, every time.

  • Hugs and Kisses Infant Protection System: Every infant wears a Hugs tag, protecting against abduction and providing peace of mind. The new Kisses component enables mother-baby matching for added reassurance.
  • Nara Bassinets: Modern, hygienic and ergonomic bassinets will ensure that babies sleep safely, and that their mothers can access them easily from any position.
  • Avalon Fetal and Maternal Monitors: Upgraded, wireless monitors can detect a baby’s heart rate while allowing the mother to move about freely or labor in a tub — ensuring both safety and comfort.
  • Spinning Babies® Training: Trains caregivers in childbirth physiology and maternal positioning to naturally ease the baby’s descent through the pelvis, reducing cesarean rates by up to 48%.
  • Interpreter iPad on Wheels: With 30 languages spoken in the community of Marshall, a mobile Interpreter iPad ensures clear communication between caregivers and patients before, during and after labor.
