The mission of the Austin Symphony Orchestra is to bring live symphonic music to the people of the Austin area through community orchestra concerts, to provide enjoyment and enhanced musical appreciation and knowledge, to provide an avenue of artistic growth and education for regional performers and audiences.

The orchestra got its start in 1957 and has performed continuously up until now.  

Our board consists of 25 members who meet monthly year round.  The orchestra is generally around 65 members and performs up to seven concerts per year, four general, two free concerts for area children in grades 4, 5, and 6, and usually a concert during the annual summer Freedom Fest in Austin. Our conductor is Stephen Ramsey.
