As we end another unique year at Art House North, we are happy to reflect on all of the hours of creative community we were able to provide and participate in. Most nights there is a glow from the windows of AHN, and we are grateful for the many folks who joined in to dance, draw, write, act, make music, sing, read, discuss, laugh and applaud.
A year at AHN consists of Art House North events, partner events, and other community endeavors. We kicked 2023 off with our AHN Songwriter Workshop featuring Christa Wells and Joel Hanson, and thanks to the organizing genius of our new Director of Events, Naomi Zupfer, we launched several new support groups for artists including a writers group, and a visual arts group. We hosted several retreats and workshops including the Finding Your Voice writer’s workshop, The Artist’s Disposition Artist Retreat, and the Embodiment and the Psalms day retreat. And of course we danced our feet off at the annual AHN Square Dance.
Our partners at Bucket Brigade put on another stunning year of theater, including a new fall play that we will be talking about for years. We were grateful to have Vivid Artistry back for a fall retreat and are very excited about our new partnership with Skapa - a counseling service with a focus on artists.
We also leaned into our partnership with Art House Dallas and their Origin Series for spiritual formation. We connected them with two MN artists who were featured in their beautiful reader, and offered three different book study groups to discuss this year’s topic of finitude, limits and mortality. Our conversations were complex and lovely, and brought to mind again how the joy and the sorrow are often in the same cup.
This year, the music of our co-founder, Sara Groves, officially came under the Art House North umbrella - Sara had multiple collaborations with artists like Paul Zach, Ellie Holcolmb, Sarah Macintosh, and a various artist tribute recording to Rich Mullins and will close out our year with a Christmas Show on December 15 & 16.
Please consider Art House North in your giving for Give to the Max day to help us gain momentum for creative community for the common good in 2024. Help us reach our goal of $15,000 for more arts programming, continued team support and meaningful events in our beautiful space.
