Using Food as a Tool to Build Health, Wealth, and Social Change
This year in Minneapolis, on the Northside, at Appetite For Change—we’ve grown and moved in directions we hadn’t entirely anticipated. At Appetite For Change, we’re grounding ourselves in the mission: using food as a tool to build health, wealth and social change. For us this looks like keeping our work centered around community and increasing access to fresh food.
In July we created the Community Cooks Meal Box delivery program, our newest 16-week pilot program in collaboration with the Metro Food Justice Network, delivering meal boxes filled with fresh grocery items to over 300 households each week. Each box features local and Northside grown produce, products from nearby vendors, and relevant and realistic recipes to cook 2 meals for a family of 6, or 12 meals total. Community Cooks Meal Boxes also provide an opportunity to cook and connect with friends and family.
This Give to the Max, help continue sharing fresh food, supporting local business, and connecting community with over 400 families in 2022. Your gift of:
$20 supports local growers and provides fresh chemical-free produce for 12 meals in one box
$50 provides locally-sourced ingredients like protein, herbs, and spices, for one box, or 12 nourishing meals
$100 offers two families an opportunity to cook and connect over two full and flavorful boxes, or 24 meals a week.
$250 delivers meal boxes to 5 households, sparing busy families time and money with less trips to the grocery store.
$1,000 provides a meal box subscription for 30 weeks, a full programming season, cooking up 360 flavorful meals for one household. That’s 360 opportunities to learn, gather, and connect.
