Using Food as a Tool to Build Health, Wealth, and Social Change

From the start, our mission has been to use food as a tool to build health, wealth, and social change in North Minneapolis. We’ve loved bringing people together to learn, cook, eat, and “Grow Food!” (Can it really be over 5 years since our youth-led video went viral?!

Thanks to the past generosity of our supporters and beautiful community, we made it through the very challenging past three calendar years. We’re honored and grateful for this support, as it helped keep our staff busy during tough times in our city and the world.

Our collective action has brought real food and real change to real people.

Thanks to unifying partnerships, we helped prepare and deliver meals to community members, supported new moms, shared recipes and resources to families in North Minneapolis and beyond, inspired a new wave of youth leaders, grown thousands of pounds of chemical-free produce on the soil of previously blighted or vacant city blocks, and so much more.

Our recent focus has been to prepare a solid foundation for future growth. Much like we carefully (and optimistically!) plan for our gardens each year, we also mindfully map out plans to connect to community and grow our impact.

With your help, we have been leading the way for lasting change. We have big plans for the coming year.

We invite you to join us in preparing for a big year next year. We know what is needed and have been tending the soil to plant seeds of lasting change next year and beyond.

Our community impact is greater than ever. Every level of funding and donations helps us prep the AFC garden for 2023 with your support.

This Give to the Max, be our partners as we prepare for a great 2023 and beyond– we’re energized and focused on our work to continue to build health, wealth, and social change in North Minneapolis!
