Founded in 1996, Al Maa’uun’s goals have been to meet the North Minneapolis community's needs by partnering with neighboring organizations, faith communities, and individuals. Al Maa’uun offers many vital services in the community focusing on critical areas, including affordable housing, workforce development, peer mentorship, and food insecurity. Over the last two years, the need for Al Maa'uun programs has increased due to unemployment and food insecurity in response to the ongoing pandemic, racial unrest, and increased gun violence. In addition, recent changes in Minneapolis’ food provider space has increased the number of individuals seeking assistance through Al Maa’uun’s food program. Through our partnership with Meals on Wheels for food delivery, Al Maa’uun serves seniors age 65 and older and those with disabilities and is the only provider of halal meals in the Twin Cities. Out of community necessity and the partnership commitment to the mission of Meals on Wheels, Al Maa'uun has increased the number of seniors it serves from 30 to 50. With your help, we will be able to reach our goal of serving 150 seniors. More Than a Meal, one of the Meals on Wheels programs, offers home-delivered meals which help older Americans in communities across the country, especially since vulnerable seniors are at the greatest risk amid COVID-19. With your donation, Al Maa’uun can respond to the food insecurity needs in the community and ensure seniors have access to healthy halal foods they need to stay safe and nourished.
Al Maa’uun is also happy to have the support of IRUSA this Give to the Max Day. IRUSA is providing a $10,000 match toward our food service program needs. All donations to this campaign will receive a dollar-for-dollar match increasing your donation’s impact.
