The Scholarship Fund exists to positively impact the lives of students interested in the University of Minnesota. Scholarship recipients have strong academics and leadership experience. The financial support allows students to access an outstanding Carlson education. Over the last 30 years, we've awarded scholarships to more than 300 students in excess of $2,000,000. We plan to do so the next 30 years and beyond as we have grown our endowment to last in perpetuity. The scholarship introduces young leaders to the benefits of the Alpha Eta chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi.
The chapter engages students socially and professionally. Previous scholarship recipients have made friends for life in the fraternity. Members in the fraternity are surrounded by driven individuals that push themselves harder everyday to get ahead.
The Scholarship Fund believes that because of the great education, scholarship recipients will have great jobs immediately after graduation and will be able to contribute to the economy and to society.
Ryan Mundon: "I can't thank the donors of the scholarship fund enough. I would not be the motiviated person I am today without the scholarship. I am surrounded by people that consistently push me to be better than I thought I could be. The scholarship is the reason I came to the U, the reason I have the greatest friends I could imagine, the reason I have a full-time job lined up a year before I graduate, and the reason I have enjoyed college so much."
Marc Lorimer: "This past year I received an Alpha Kappa Psi Housing Scholarship which has had a tremendous effect on me. The first of which is the fact that it has allowed me to drop one part time job and focus on other things. These other things included running a Marathon, getting A's in both of A-term classes, and accepting an internship offer with Target as a Business Analyst. On a more personal level, it has provided me with excellent living conditions as well as the chance to live with 17 of the best friends that a guy could ask for."
Mark Foley: "It haunts me to know that if I hadn't received an Alpha Kappa Psi scholarship, I most likely would not be in Minneapolis today, and I certainly would not have experienced the personal and professional growth that helped me land a full time financial analyst job at Wipfli as a sophomore."
Benjamin Hohl: "I have been fortunate enough to receive an AKPsi scholarship for two years now, and I can honestly say it has made a world of difference to me. Thanks to the scholarship I received this year I am able to spend my time and energy building a startup company focusing on education. I have been able to focus on building a great team and have successfully launched a classroom technology product into the marketplace which is currently being used by hundreds of students. The AKPsi scholarships have granted me the ability to pursue what I am truly passionate about."
