The need for the food, healthcare, and education support that Arm in Arm in Africa provides in townships in South Africa is overwhelming. Education was permitted only through 4th grade during Apartheid and its impact has been multi-generational. Unemployment surpasses 70%.
We purchase food locally and deliver it directly to the families determined to be most in need by their neighbors. We provide more than 10,000 meals annually in Gugulethu, Sowetho and Malungeni. Two of our Board members directly oversee operations so our donors can be assured that the food goes to those intended.
Our healthcare and education programming is executed by partner agencies ranging from Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charities and St. Luke’s Hospice in Khayelishta, to Sizakuyenza Women’s Shelter in Cape Flats, to a half dozen others. We have expanded our work into Togo (West Africa) to support children’s school clothing. All donations will go in full directly to these initiatives.
