Help WeARE educate our community!

WeARE serving the Brainerd Lakes Area with education and advocacy at WeARE-The Clinic and WeARE@CLC!  With the uncertainties in today’s climate about access to birth control and other reproductive health care services, your support and donations to our clinic and education outreach are vital to ensure all people, especially those in rural communities, have the high-quality of services they deserve. You can help!

WeARE Educating!

Youth Advisory Council (YAC): The WeARE Youth Advisory Council is a youth-run group that advocates for comprehensive sexual health services and education in the community. YAC members organize and fundraise for youth events and outreach (like the Period Project--a youth run program to stock bathrooms in area schools with free menstrual products). WeARE YAC members learn a variety of skills including, project management, fundraising skills, volunteerism, teamwork, leadership and advocacy. Students are advised by Chloe Baker, WeARE Education Coordinator and Facilitator.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program:  Program for parents of preschool children. The goal of the session is to help parents develop communication skills around healthy sexual development. Tenets of this program focus on open communication between parent and child, including tools to prevent sexual violence, the importance of using correct body terminology and body safety rules for children.

SxTalk program: Our evidence-informed education programs facilitate discussion and education around sexual health.  This program provides incentives for attending classes and  is structured to provide comprehensive sexual health education for at-risk youth in partnership with The Shop. Topics include: Consent 101, Birth Control, Contraception, Healthy Relationships, Gender and  STIs.

Lunch & Learns at Central Lakes College: In collaboration with the Nursing program at Central Lakes College, WeARE provides lunch with an hour long education program around sexual health.  This program is geared toward nursing, dental and phlebotomy students. Education includes; birth control, sexually transmitted infections, vaccines, cervical cancer screening, sexual assault services and more.

Illusion Theater: WeARE collaborates with Illusion Theater to bring theater, education and activities into the classroom. Sessions promote social and emotional learning, development of self advocacy skills and provide age appropriate sexual health education. This program is typically geared toward 8th and 9th graders.

Everyone is welcome at WeARE!   WeARE is 'Rainbow Welcoming' of LGBTQ community.
