A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting lung cancer.

Changing and Saving Lives. Lung cancer is the deadliest of all cancers, with a survival rate of just 26.6%. On average, 229,000 individuals in America will be diagnosed with lung cancer–and a high percentage of those will be diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer (stages 3 or 4). Despite these staggering statistics, lung cancer remains under-funded, under-researched, and under-diagnoses.

However, there’s hope. 

Since its foundation, with our donors and partners–including lung cancer experts–by our side, we’ve worked diligently to continuously raise this survival rate year-after-year, increase early stage diagnoses, and increase screenings. Our community is changing and saving lives. 

Making a difference. A Breath of Hope reaches over 100,000 individuals touched by lung cancer in a year: patients, survivors, families, and caregivers. Our tight-knit community of supporters and those impacted are offered in-person transportation services, unique to our community, virtual and free patient/survivor and family/caregiver support groups (including grief support groups), companionship services, and, soon, Survivorship Programming. Additionally, ABOH funds innovative research, including research for biomarker testing and earlier detection, as well as encourages awareness and education. Annually, we host events that increase community-wide awareness and access to resources, break down barriers, and connect others with similar experiences, including our annual Lung Run/Walk, Women’s Wellness Tea, Midwest Patient Summit, our new physicians-only Biomarker Summit, and Gala. 

By supporting us, you’re supporting our programming and events, and, therefore, reaching over 100,000 individuals in one year alone. 

But there’s more than that–ABOH provides an online education platform for lung cancer–The Animated Patient Guide–the first of its kind, which has reached over 1.5 million individuals in 130 million countries and was recently published in the Journal of Cancer Education.

Patient and family support programs including transportation to-and-from appointments, companionship services, patient/survivor and caregiver/family support groups, grief support groups, Survivorship Programming (launching soon!), yoga, mindfulness, and much more. 

Innovative research funding for integral topics in the lung cancer field by highly regarded experts, including biomarkers and earlier detection.

Community outreach in the communities who need it most

Programs and events including our Lung Run/Walk, the largest Lung Run/Walk of its kind, our Women's Wellness Tea, our Patient Summit, and our Biomarker Summit--a physician-only Summit that will have groundbreaking results.
