Abortion Access Front in Minnesota: Joy Is Our Rebellion 💥

In Minnesota, abortion is still legal — and we’re working our asses off to keep it that way. While neighboring states are shutting down clinics and politicians are busy auditioning for The Handmaid’s Tale, Minnesota remains a critical access point for abortion care in the Upper Midwest. Abortion Access Front (AAF) is here to make sure the folks providing that care feel the love, laughter, and loud support they deserve — and we need you to help us keep showing up.

Our team of feminist troublemakers shows up with humor, heart, and sometimes baked goods — because clinic defense looks a lot like community care when AAF’s in town. Here’s what we were up to across the North Star State in 2025:

💌 Love Is Louder: Standing with Threatened Advocates When MN repro rights leaders learned they were targeted for assassination, AAF stepped in to offer care packages and connection. In the face of intimidation, we show up with solidarity and strength — reminding our community that care is our counter-attack, and no one faces this fight alone.

🥰 Clinic Love: The Minnesota Chapter We know the people providing abortion care are heroes — so we spoil them accordingly. This year AAF:

• Helped Whole Woman’s Health MN (WWH MN) move 200 boxes into storage 📦

• Hosted a volunteer party to make abortion after-care packages for folks receiving abortions in MN 💖

• Highlighted Amazon wishlists for WE Health and WWH MN to stock clinic escorts up on hand warmers & gloves in the winter, and then sent cooling towels in the summer 🧤

• Exposed fake MN clinics with a team of volunteers who researched and left online reviews.🕵🏽‍♀️

• Delivered cookies to Red River Women’s Clinic and We Health 🍪

• Sent boba tea gift cards to WWH MN, because self-care is health care 🧋

🔎Exposing Extremism For our friends at Gender Justice, we’ve been digging up receipts — five years of posts, quotes, and clips showing how Minnesota’s anti-abortion leaders and politicians have fueled extremist rhetoric. This research will be used to drop truth bombs ahead of caucus season. Because if they said it, we’re showing it. 

🎶 Music, Marches, and Microphones From tabling at a shows by Tina Schieske, Jason Narducy and Michael Shannon, to amplifying MN State Rep. Leigh Finke on our Feminist Buzzkills podcast, we kept the spotlight where it belongs — on those fighting the good fight. We also marched (and hollered) alongside Minnesotans at the People’s March in January, braving the cold with our AAF signs and unapologetic joy.

🎤 Do Re Metoo at The Parkway Theater We packed the house for a one-night-only musical blowout where comedy, confession, and chorus met feminism and fire. Because joy is resistance — and subverting sexist songs is one of our love languages.

🍲 Pro-Choice Potluck at Hai Hai We were honored to be among the beneficiaries of this delicious annual rebellion. The Pro-Choice Potluck turned advocacy into art and activism into appetizers, organized by the amazing Chef Christina Nguyen with superstar chefs Stephanie Izard, Karen Akunowicz, and Lee Anne Wong leading a lineup of culinary warriors raising funds for reproductive freedom.

💪 Our Mission in MN AAF’s work in Minnesota is about sustaining joy and courage in a post-Roe world — supporting clinic staff, training volunteers, exposing fake clinics, and building community through comedy, art, and action. We’re here to make sure that while extremists work to ban abortion, Minnesotans keep working together to protect it — and have a blast doing it.
