The people who call Clare Housing home are survivors.
They’ve faced housing instability, the challenges of living with HIV, and countless other barriers. With stable housing and compassionate support, they’ve found safety, health, and hope.
But the recent government shutdown showed just how fragile that stability can be.
When SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits were delayed, more than a hundred of our residents were left uncertain about how they would afford groceries. For weeks, our staff scrambled to fill the gap — securing emergency food resources, coordinating meal deliveries, and stretching every available dollar to make sure no one went without.
Now that the shutdown seems to be coming to an end and SNAP benefits are resuming, one thing is clear: we need to be ready next time.
That’s why we’re launching the Clare Housing Emergency Relief Fund — a safety net to ensure that every resident has enough to eat and their essential needs met, no matter what. This fund will allow us to respond immediately when benefits are disrupted or when the unexpected happens.
During Give to the Max 2025, we’re raising $28,000 to launch this critical fund and ensure our residents have everything they need in times of crisis.
And thanks to a generous anonymous donor, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 when you give by midnight on November 20.
That means your $50 becomes $100. Your $100 becomes $200. Your gift becomes peace of mind, full pantries, and the reassurance that even in times of uncertainty, Clare Housing residents will not go without the essentials.
Give now to build the Clare Housing Emergency Relief Fund — and help ensure that everyone in our community has what they need to thrive, today and in the future.
