In a 2018 study, there were roughly 19,600 Minnesotans experiencing homelessness on a single night. While the study covers data collected before the COVID-19 outbreak, it shows the depth of the problem that seems likely to worsen with increased unemployment as a result of the virus.
Lake Area Bank's core focus is to make a difference in people's lives. During these times of uncertainty, we want to do our part to assist those in need and the increased demand at shelters in our local communities.
You can help WIPE OUT homelessness! During 11/02/20 - 12/18/20, Lake Area Bank will collect toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels for distribution to local shelter organizations. In addition to collecting these basic-need items in our branch locations, our goal is to raise $500 for each of our participating shelters.
The local shelter organizations we're supporting include:
A Place For You helps individual men and women who are experiencing homelessness in Chisago, Isanti, Pine, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Carlton counties. We help by providing temporary shelter, individualized program plans, resource direction, support and encouragement to each of the residents during and after their stay at the shelter.
Through safe, affordable housing and innovative supportive programming, Solid Ground helps families break the cycle of homelessness and poverty for the next generation. Solid Ground currently runs six programs in suburban Ramsey and Washington Counties housing nearly 400 women, men and children annually.
o St Andrew's Family Emergency Shelter
St Andrew's Family Emergency Shelter seeks to prevent and end homelessness in Washington and Suburban Ramsey Counties. We provide off-site shelter at two locations in Washington County with ongoing supportive case management with the goal of stable housing for the family.
Thank you for supporting these shelters serving our local communities!
