#GiveMNin2020

Like many of you, 2020 will be a year the GiveMN team will never forget.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the renewed call for racial justice after Mr. George Floyd was killed, we saw generosity take center stage with hundreds of thousands of donors supporting the causes they care about most through GiveMN.org.

As we close out this year, we wanted to share what we saw as giving in 2020 broke all previous records.

It’s been a record-breaking time for generosity on GiveMN.org, as hundreds of thousands of donors like you have given more than $50 million during a year like no other.

Our fundraising coaches at RaiseMN opened their schedule for no-cost appointments to more than 200 nonprofits this spring, working with them to help adapt their fundraising to our new COVID-19 norms.

GiveMN created #GiveAtHomeMN in less than a month to be a special spring statewide giving campaign to support as many nonprofits as possible in light of the worsening COVID-19 pandemic. And in one week, thousands of donors responded with more than $5 million for 3,000+ nonprofits and schools.

GiveMN donated our portion of the GiveMN.org processing fee back to thousands of nonprofits and schools for three months, including the special #GiveAtHomeMN event.

As a nonprofit ourselves, we rely on the proceeds from the processing fee to help support our mission work, but made this decision based on our values of operating from abundance and connection to community.

At the end of May and into June, donors gave more than $9 million through GiveMN.org, more than 30 times the amount given during the same period in 2019.

The majority of these donations came from donors outside of Minnesota in a show of support and solidarity with causes in the Twin Cities.

Thanks to our sponsors at the Bush Foundation and U.S. Bank, GiveMN gave away more than $170,000 through Golden Tickets, Bonus Grants, and Power Hours as part of #GTMD20 and #GiveAtHomeMN.

Since our founding in 2009, we’ve given away more than $2 million in incentive grants!

#GTMD20 was a special day as tens of thousands of donors from around the world came together to support Minnesota nonprofits and schools, smashing last year’s record by more than 40%.

How can we help?
