Our mission is to preserve, celebrate, and promote K’Nyaw (Karen) culture while fostering a supportive environment for all ages through engaging cultural activities, leadership development, and advocacy. As a youth-led, grassroots nonprofit, we are dedicated to empowering individuals across generations, from children and youth to elders and lifelong community leaders by creating inclusive spaces where everyone can learn, participate, and carry our vibrant culture forward.
WHO WE SERVE
We serve all ages of individuals in our community from kids to elderly adults. We welcome and engage individuals from all backgrounds to learn, participate, and spread our vibrant culture. (Kids 5-12 Years Old, Youth 13-24 Years Old, Men 25+, Eadelry Women Age 40+)
WHY IT MATTERS
At the Karen Culture Organization of Minnesota, we create a safe, welcoming space for the Karen community to reconnect with their cultural roots and foster belonging. We offer programs to help the younger generation embrace their heritage and support the older generation in sharing their wisdom. By preserving and promoting Karen culture, we empower individuals to celebrate their heritage, strengthen cultural identity, foster intergenerational bonds, and create a resilient, united community.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
KCOM engages the community by showcasing Karen culture through dance and storytelling. We host traditional celebrations, fostering unity and pride. Our inclusive programs welcome all backgrounds and ages, promoting cultural awareness and leadership. Our National partnerships help us spread Karen traditions across the U.S.
WHAT NEEDS FUNDING
We are seeking operational funding to strengthen our internal infrastructure, grow staff capacity, and enhance program delivery. This support will help us expand our reach, sustain cultural traditions, and establish best practices for community-led programs. Funding will also cover staff salaries, program costs, transportation, and overall nonprofit sustainability, ensuring long-term impact for Karen youth, families, and elders.
