Holy cow! We have unlocked our (2) separate $1,000 matches and exceeded our goal! We still have 3 hours to go...how far above goal can we get?!? One final push to promote recycling education!!!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed and everyone who will do so before the end of the day.
For many of us, our attention to recycling stopped being a focus in the teenage years or young adulthood. Put paper, metal and plastic bottles into a separate container and that way we can save the planet. These were easy instructions, designed to stick in the minds of young people and to be fair, it worked. We remember the arrows and for the most part, try to do the right thing.
Now, it is time to Revisit Recycling, because recycling has become so much more.
Recycling lives at the intersection of economic and ecological success. The practice of recycling not only keeps our world cleaner, but it also creates employment opportunities. Our efforts to recycle and reduce waste save energy, protect resources, and support local businesses/jobs.
Take a look at just a few of the perks of recycling:
-Recycling creates employment opportunities at the collection, sorting and manufacturing phases of the process. Recycling industry jobs pay almost $7.96 billion in wages and add nearly $23.9 billion to Minnesota’s economy.
-It saves energy. Take aluminum for example. Making aluminum from recycled materials requires 95% less energy than creating it from bauxite ore.
-Not recycling costs money! In 2021, approximately 1 million tons of recyclable material were discarded, but could have been recycled for an additional estimated value of $142.1 million. Instead, it cost Minnesotans millions of dollars to put it in landfills.
-Recycling allows for waste to be significantly diverted from landfills and incinerators.
-Recycling in the Twin Cities metro area alone creates almost 50.5 million BTU in energy savings.

We have set a goal of $5,000.00 for our 2025 Give to the Max Day. Donations made to RAM will help to get messaging about the benefits of recycling into the greater community, and to dispel misinformation about recycling as a practice. Below are examples of the impact your gift will make:
-A $50 gift provides RAM the opportunity to easily replenish items in our recycling education kits which have been damaged/lost over time.
-A $100 gift offsets the costs of boosting a social media post, so that approximately 6000 people will see messaging about recycling.
-A $250 gift would cover the cost for renting a room at a community center, which would allow us to provide in-person learning opportunities on topics such as the ‘Economics of Recycling.’
We are also excited to announce that an anonymous donor has stepped forward to match the first $1,000 of the 2025 GTMD campaign. So, your early donation will be doubled!
UPDATE ALERT! Our first match has been fulfilled. Thank you!
We are happy to announce that an additional kind donor has stepped forward to offer another $1,000 match! This match will activate at 10am on November 14th, and will match the next $1,000 in gifts dollar-for-dollar. Please use the active match when giving a gift.
Join us in our journey to help the masses Revisit Recycling!
