This year's Give to the Max Day marks an exciting year of growth for Spout Press. In 2025, we had our first full year with a new distributor after our previous one abruptly closed, and we tabled and sold Spout titles at the AWP Conference in Los Angeles for the first time in ten years. We expanded our collective to six active members, and we will soon debut a brand-new website. And, perhaps most significantly, our most-recent title Locker Room Talk: Women in Private Spaces won a Minnesota Book Award for Best Anthology. We partnered on in-person events in St. Paul with East Side Freedom Library and in Duluth as part of the Minnesota Humanities Center Minnesota Writers Off the Page series. Recently, we hosted a celebration in Minneapolis that was our first concert since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
With your help, we are hoping to build on these successes to fund our next big ideas. With a donation this Give to the Max Day, you will be contributing to:
- Relaunching an online version of Spout Magazine, our literary magazine that ran from 1989 to 2015.
- Hosting magazine launch parties with live music and readings by local contributors
- Funding our next two books, forthcoming in 2026:
- Every Autism an Architecture by Tommy Frank, a debut collection of lyric essays about neurodivergence and genderqueerness.
- Cicada Wheel by Jesse Kuhn, a debut poetry collection chronicling one's struggle to live with both integrity and revolutionary ideals in a time of hyper-capitalism.
As a small volunteer-run press, we can't fund these goals alone. We hope you will consider helping us by donating and spreading the word. To incentivize giving, we have expanded this year's special offers for donors.
- For donations of $25 or more, you will receive a mystery book from Spout Press's backlist.
- For donations of $50 or more, you will receive a poster from our Locker Room Talk concert held at Hook & Ladder in August and a black Spout winter hat.
- For donations of $75 or more, you will receive a Locker Room Talk concert poster, a black Spout winter hat, and a mystery book from Spout Press's backlist.
- For donations of $100 or more, you will receive all of the donor gifts (a pack of stickers/bookmarks, two mystery backlist titles, and a Locker Room Talk concert poster).
With your support, we can continue our part in fostering literary culture and community in the Twin Cities. Even a small amount helps.
If you are unable to give this year, you can still help by following us on Instagram, Bluesky, Substack, and Facebook, and by sharing our posts.
Please support us in our current projects, and thank you!
Love Always,
Spout Press
