Spark Joy at MELA #BigHeart

MELA is a joyful learning community where who a student is is more important than the scores they earn on tests, the number of minutes they can sit still and stay silent, or the amount of homework they can get done during a busy family night. At MELA, students are known. 

When students are known, motivation is easier (because we know what motivates each student), classroom behavior is more peaceful (because we know each student’s needs), and joy is easy to find (because love is centered).

MELA understands the brain and how students learn. Before they can learn, they need to be known, feel safe, and know they are loved. That is why these are top priorities. The result is...joyful learning.

We are a community that listens, learns, and grows together. We cultivate positive communication, strive to meet the needs of every student and family, and see mistakes as opportunities for growth. We face challenges with optimism because we know there is strength in learning together.

Your support will aid in MELA's successful navigation of the issues that all schools are facing from the rise of prices of food and transportation, to federal dollars being delayed or withheld all together. 

This is why we are asking for financial support from any old or new FRIENDS OF MELA. We invite you to come in and tour our school to see for yourself the kind of learning our students experience. 

**We have a number of MELA alumni (7th-10th graders) who come back to volunteer in classrooms because they love their experience so much.**
