For more than 49 years, KMOJ has held down the airwaves and the heart of North Minneapolis. But now, faced with change and opportunity, we are laying the groundwork for something bigger—a permanent home built for community, culture, and connection.

Why We’re Building

The current location for KMOJ was always a stepping‑stone. The Blue Line light‑rail expansion would raze the current leased facility. KMOJ is seizing this moment to anchor ourselves deeper into the community with a space that belongs to us. This isn’t just about a building. It’s about creating a broadcast hub, a gathering place, and a cultural institution that serves the voices of color, musicians and broadcasters for the next 50 years.
