Space Between Jam : Backline Gear Fundraiser

Space Between 501(c)(3) is a free monthly peer-to-peer support group curated specifically for the unique needs of our music and art communities, founded in 2022 by a Mental Health Professional and fellow musician. Since it’s inception, Space Between has operated out of The Hook & Ladder Theater in Minneapolis. Since 2016, The Hook has become a staple music venue of our community. They not only support our local bands and national acts, but their mission extends far beyond the stage. Space Between was started because we know musicians need more than just a place to play. They need a place to belong. So we’re asking for your help!

2026 Initiative: Space Between is expanding its programming to add a monthly jam on the main stage of The Hook. The monthly jams will feature Space Between members and participants, will host featured artists, and performances will be open to the public for all to enjoy. Over the past four years, our most common request has been to have an element of musical collaboration, as a large part of artist communication is facilitated through the creative process of music making. Music has always been more than sound. It’s connection, it's healing, it's comradery, and it's community. We hope that the monthly jam will give prospective and active members a chance to feel welcome, safe, and connect with community through artistic creation and collaboration.

Keep the Music Playing. Help us build a backline of gear for our new monthly Space Between Jam. So that anyone who walks through our doors can participate fully, experience the mainstage spotlight and find their voice, regardless of what they own or can afford. Musicians carry so much already, the pressure to perform, the isolation of the creative process, and the financial grind and pressure of building a career in the arts. Financial barriers should never stop a musician from showing up, plugging in, and being part of our community. By donating, you will help us purchase quality used equipment for our artists and backline, so that regardless of anyone's financial barriers, they are able to plug in, feel safe to explore, belong, and find their people.  

Your Donation will help purchase:

• A Reliable Drum Set (so our drummers don’t have to haul their kits across town).
• A versatile Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Keyboard.
• Amplifiers and Speakers.
• Miscellaneous cables, gear, and repairs to ensure that everyone can be heard.

Our current fundraising goal is set at $4,000. Every dollar of your donation will stay local. Every instrument, amp, and cable will help create moments of collaboration, confidence, and joy. 100% of donations go toward gear, programming, and keeping our space free and welcoming to all musicians and artists in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota communities. 

We aren’t just fundraising for instruments. By donating, you are fostering musician/artist mental health and wellbeing, cultivating skill building, and creating connections within our beloved arts communities.
