Our volunteer-run community center (New City Center for Healing Justice) is bursting at the seams with mutual aid groups that are sourcing, packing, and delivering groceries to families sheltering at home; providing street medic training; teaching protest safety and supplying PPE; holding healing spaces and processing circles to cope with the collective trauma we're all experiencing; conducting constitutional observer trainings; cooking for protests; delivering meals to our unhoused neighbors; training healthcare workers and other occupations to navigate federal enforcement efforts at work; and much more. We are so happy to be able to offer space and resources to mutual aid groups responding to current circumstances! However, this increased usage raises the costs of running the building (utilities, cleaning, repairs, etc.) and requires more refrigeration, more storage shelving, and the need to create a more secure space (improving the door locks and applying shatterproof film to the entryway and door glass). We are so grateful for your support as we open our doors and hearts to operate at maximum capacity in an attempt to meet the many needs of our community at this difficult time.
