“Sometimes, I imagine that I am back in Laos, just to get away from reality. I fought for this country during the aftermath of the Vietnam War.” — Houa Yang
Houa Yang is the mother of Thao Xiong, a local artist and activist who was recently detained by ICE and is currently in Texas awaiting deportation to Laos.
Houa and her son shared a home, expenses, and daily care for one another. His detention has abruptly separated them and left Houa facing uncertainty and immediate financial strain.
In Progress is accepting donations to support Houa’s basic living needs during this time. All funds raised will go directly toward bills, food, and essential expenses as she prepares for what comes next.
