The last couple of seasons have been a thrilling period of growth for Lux. We premiered the first work written for this quartet and won first prize in the Charleston International Music Competition. We collaborated with two wonderful organizations: the Belle Chanter Treble Choir and the Twin Cities Bronze Bell Choir. This May we are mentoring University of Minnesota composition students with a performance of their newly-written string quartets. And, we continue to highlight the beauty and diversity of 20th and 21st-century string quartets in unique and meaningful programs.

Lux has more exciting projects planned for the coming seasons. Our fall 2026 program will highlight the extraordinary art we have here in Minnesota with works by four outstanding Minnesota composers. We are presenting our first collaborative recital with mezzo-soprano Kristina Rodel Sorum, culminating in a Schubert Club Courtroom performance in February 2027. In fall 2027 we will produce our first professional recording! We will record the string quartets of Nicholas Vines and travel to New York to work with his stellar recording engineer. And there is so much more we want to do!

Ticket sales and performance fees only cover a small portion of the work it takes and the money we need to fund these projects. This year we took a big step, and are happy to announce that we are now fiscally sponsored by Springboard for the Arts. As part of their Artist Incubator program, this partnership allows us to seek grants and other funding to support Lux’s projects and development. We are so excited for this new stage and for the opportunities it opens for Lux.

We kindly ask you, our friends and fellow music lovers, to consider supporting Lux in our endeavors and to help us build on these last few years so we can continue to share with our community the incredible music we discover.

With the Springboard sponsorship, all donations are tax deductible and will go directly towards funding Lux’s artistic initiatives and development. Your donation will support the Vines recording, performances and collaborations, outreach and mentorship to students of all ages, and expanding access to the arts for audiences from every background.

Our music only truly comes to life when shared with our community. We thank you for supporting Lux’s music, mission and evolution.

Lux String Quartet is a sponsored project of Springboard for the Arts, a nonprofit arts service organization. Contributions on behalf of Lux may be made payable to Springboard for the Arts and are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
