Help us build a Twin Cities region in which all people seeking to grow food will have an array of tenure options that support stable land access, to produce nourishing and culturally-significant food to meet the needs of their communities.

The Twin Cities Community Agricultural Land Trust (TCALT) holds that long-term access to affordable land is the foundation of a healthy local food economy. We believe that sustainably growing food promotes community health and wealth, and provides space for inter-generational healing from the ongoing trauma of systemic racism and poverty.

In a time of unprecedented wealth concentration and reorganization and consolidation of property and farmland, we are counting on you to help us create alternative pathways for emerging farmers and land stewards seeking land for growing food. It's time for the development of cooperative strategies to meet the needs of our time.

It shouldn't be so hard to access the space and resources we need to grow our own food. TCALT addresses these challenges by enacting policies and structures centering Black, Indigenous, and communities marginalized by historical and current systems. We do this by:

1) Direct Farmer Support for emerging growers through:

  • Fiscal Sponsorship - helping farmers access capital, banking and administrative resources for their projects.

  • Technical Support and Education and Training alternative ownership structures.

2) Strategic Land Holding:

  • We maintain a strategic entity to support the holding of land for emerging growers in the metro region (eg, an agricultural CLT)
