Final Chance Animal Rescue was established in 2023 with the mission to save dogs from euthanasia due to misunderstood behaviors or maltreatment by humans.  F.C.A.R. has a team of trainers, and volunteers that dedicate time to rehabilitating these dogs.  On average each dog that comes into our rescue spends a minimum of 6 months. What sets us apart from other rescues is we have staff trained in dog behavior, along with basic dog training.  Dogs are taught how to organically make better decisions when interacting with both people and other animals.   The time in our little rescue comes with quite the price tag that doesn't get recouped with an adoption fee.  That's why we're asking for your support by making a donation during our biggest fundraiser of the year.  Give To The Max 2025!  This is an opportunity for donations to be enhanced significantly and allow us to continue the work we do.  We are a small rescue but make a big impact.

We Save Dogs.

A recent example of a dog we saved, is "Walter", aka "Mel".  Last fall "Walter" and his sister "Large Marge" were picked up by animal control after being found locked in a car while his owners were on vacation.  F.C.A.R. stepped up initially and welcomed "Large Marge" into rescue.  Shortley after we noticed "Walter" was listed for euthanasia.  F.C.A.R. couldn't leave him behind, and rescued "Walter" as well.  "Walter" while being in the shelter had bitten a staff member, although it wasn't a serious bite, it was a bite none the less, and that earned him a deadline.  This happens often, as the shelter is a very stressful place for animals.  Once with Final Chance "Walter" was assessed, allowed time to decompress, and then it was time to get to work.  Over several months like other dogs that come into our rescue he worked with our team of trainers, and volunteers on socializing with both dogs and people.  He was also leash trained and learned what it felt like to to be in a calm and structured environment.  "Walter" was in rescue nearly 9 months when A couple inquired about "Walter".  One of their dogs had recently passed away, leaving them heart broken, and their other dog; a mastiff named "Rosie" lonely.  They also live on an organic farm and had relied on their dogs for companionship as well as security. "Walter" fit the bill!  They were a perfect match and were patient during the adoption process.   As of last August, "Walter's" adoption was official.  He now lives on acreage, assisting with the fall harvest, providing friendship to "Rosie", and laughter to his mom and dad with all his shenanigans.

We Save Dogs

From Walter's Mom:

"Just wanted to update on Walter.  He continues to thrive.  We were out digging up potatoes, and Walter picked one up and kept tossing it in the air and chasing it. My husband was cutting wood and both dogs were playing.  Walter even came to the door because it was getting cold outside.  He is still curious and learning about new situations.  We are blessed to have him in our family.  Thank you."
