Minneapolis Choir Collective (MCC) provides opportunities for early-career musicians and creates powerful music in solidarity with local organizations fighting injustice.

Since our founding in 2018, MCC has grown from 12 to over 70 singers. We center LGBTQIA+ and other underrepresented musicians and provide opportunities for up-and-coming musicians—from commissioning new works by local composers to providing coaching and podium time to new conductors. We present each of our concerts in partnership with a local organization working to support important community issues, including local climate justice efforts, advocacy for immigrants, and LGBTQIA+ visibility and pride.

This spring, we are performing a sweeping work by Christopher Tin called "The Lost Birds." This piece is a musical memorial to bird species driven to extinction by humankind. Our performance will be a benefit concert for the East Phillips Neighborhood Institute, a local environmental justice organization we have partnered with over the years.

Your donation creates opportunities for musicians, builds community, and helps us bring our spring performance to life. Your generosity will support:

  • Hiring a string quartet
  • Purchasing scores for 70+ singers and instrumentalists
  • Paying our rehearsal pianist

Thank you for your support!

P.S. Connect with MCC at our next concerts on November 13 and 14! These concerts will premiere eight brand new works by early-career composers reflecting on the theme of anti-authoritarianism. Learn more and purchase tickets for Nov 13 and Nov 14.

“For a young composer with a limited network and no professional recordings in her portfolio… MCC quite literally launched my career as a composer.” – Nora Farley, composer

"MCC is always a good time but these past cycles in particular have had a lot of meaning to me, to us as singers, and to our communities. I am in  multiple choirs as a paid singer; MCC is the one that really matters to me” - a long-time MCC singer

"The last concert has been a real sweet spot of music that feels challenging without being difficult & also satisfies a personal need to make art in the face of trauma/tyranny within the Twin Cities.” - another MCC singer
