In 2018, while earning her master’s degree in Acting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Dani attended a production of GUT by Frances Poet. From the moment the curtain rose, the play stayed with her. She fell in love with the script, and in the years that followed, she couldn’t stop thinking about its intensity, its questions, and its emotional pull.

Seven years later, that lingering spark turned into action. Dani decided it was time to bring GUT to the stage. She gathered an incredible team of artists, successfully navigated the process of securing the rights to produce the U.S. premiere, and locked in a performance space. By investing her own savings—and with generous contributions from fellow co-producers and artists Beth, Julie, and Andrew—the team raised enough funding to begin production.

Now, this is where you come in.

We are seeking to raise $7,000 to support accessibility services, expand our production budget, and help offset essential costs such as marketing, royalties, and rehearsal and performance space rentals. Your support will play a direct role in bringing this powerful story to life and ensuring it is accessible to as many audience members as possible.

About the Play

GUT, written by Frances Poet, makes its U.S. premiere as a gripping psychological drama that draws audiences into the fragile space between trust and paranoia. When a couple, Maddy and Rory, leave their child in the care of a family member, a seemingly innocent encounter with a stranger sparks a spiral of doubt. As Maddy’s thoughts unravel into dark “what ifs,” the line between reality and fear begins to blur.

Raw, tense, and unforgettable, GUT explores the depths of parental instinct and the haunting power of imagination.

GUT was originally commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland and produced by the Traverse Theatre in association with the National Theatre of Scotland. The play was first performed on April 24, 2018.

Performances will be held at The Hive Collaborative, 677 Hamline Ave. N., St. Paul, MN, from May 15 through May 31.
